Solid article on German-born artist John Heartfield. I wrote a report and presented on Heartfield for a class last semester, and I think he is one of the more underappreciated artists of the 20th century.
Heartfield used a type of collage he called “photomontage,” but is best described to most people today as “photoshop before Photoshop.”
