Robert Rauschenberg (1925-2008)
Robert Rauschenberg died last night at the age of 82. I haven’t had the chance to take an in depth look at Rauschenberg’s work, but what I have seen in my art history classes about him is very compelling. In particular, I appreciate his willingness to work with mixed media in his art. I love using mixed media, so it was startling to learn that that approach to art had to be pioneered by artists such as Rauschenberg. Additionally, he had a great sense of humor and never took anything to seriously, especially his work, and I can really relate to that. In any case, the art world has lost one of its modern masters. RIP Robert.
