YES. YES. YES.
My favorite experience with this song was four years ago at Lollapalooza. After the Chili Peppers closed out the last night, the mass exodus out of Grant Park to the subway resulted in my friends and I packed like sardines (packt?) in a subway car.
You could tell that everyone felt pretty uncomfortable. After all, we had all been standing for hours in the scorching heat for three days in a row. Everyone just wanted to be home, or at the very least, in a shower.
Suddenly, two guys burst out in “Bohemian Rhapsody,” and it wasn’t long belong the entire car joined in — everyone singing at the tops of their lungs. At each stop, ore people would somehow cram into the train, and they would immediately join in.
Everyone* knew the words. Everyone* was smiling from ear to ear. And everyone* head-banged when we got to the solo. Truly epic.
*‘everyone’ does not include the homeless guys who just wanted to sleep
