”Hurricane J” and “Rock Problems” are kind of weak, but this song has me genuinely excited about the new Hold Steady album.
Still crossing my fingers and hoping that Franz Nicolay isn’t the new Matt Sharp.
There are very few human beings in history who touched so many people the way Les Paul did. Not only musicians. But anyone that loved music. He shared his gifts with all of us and brought people together with his brilliance and devotion to music and the art of sound. It was a privilege to have met him. He will be incredibly missed. But our blessing is to know that his spirit and soul will live for eternity in music everywhere.

So I’m seeing the Hold Steady tonight at the Music hall of Williamsberg, for the second night of a two night stand.
I also saw them on Tuesday at the Bowery Ballroom (second night of a two night stand) front and center. This was an awesome experience. Where they played all of Separation Sunday (full set list at the bottom). It was a great time, and the first time I hung out with people from the Unified Scene at a show. Mischief Brew opened for them, and did a great job, despite the fact that their drummer had been hit by a cop car.
Apparently, on Monday, they played almost all of AKM. And last night was BAGIA. So tonight I’m predicting a lot of Stay Positive. Here’s hoping to seeing some bonus tracks like 40 bucks.

This video is highly relevant.
I know I’ve been going crazy about the Hold Steady lately, but the day is finally here.
Here’s a sweet track off of their acoustic EP Live at Fingerprints, called You Gotta Dance with Who You Came to the Dance With.
Hold Steady poster I just finished.
It’s not quite as glorious as I had originally hoped, but I look forward to revisiting this when my Photoshop/Illustrator skills improve.
Btw, if you’re alive and in St. Louis on Monday, you need to be at this show.
It’ll be the best one you go to all year.
THE BIG NEWS
Now that it’s official - one of my two favorite bands, the Hold Steady, are playing the Gargoyle next semester!
In case you didn’t know, the Gargolye is exclusively student run (myself being one of those students). Anyways, I asked begged my friend Chiara in publicity to let me do the poster, and she agreed!
So basically, I get to work on a dream project for my favorite band, meet them, and ask them to sign my work!
The Hold Steady put out a video for “Stay Positive.”
If you haven’t listened to the ‘59 Sound by the Gaslight Anthem already, DO IT! Especially if you like the Hold Steady or the Boss.
I’ve been listening to it non-stop all day.
I bought the CD version of Stay Positive the other day so I could get the bonus songs, and man, were they worth it.
Here’s what’s been stuck in my head for the past two days.
